The Consultation

The first step on your hair restoration journey at Dr. Hasen’s Naples, FL practice is the consultation. Sometimes Dr. Hasen does a consultation on the same day as surgery for patients who are visiting from out of town, but most patients have a consultation and a procedure at different times. When you first arrive, you are asked to fill out forms and may have photos taken of your scalp.

Then, Dr. Hasen talks with you about your concerns and gives your scalp a close physical evaluation. Many patients, both male and female, come to Dr. Hasen with thinning hair on the front or top of their heads or receding hairlines. Sometimes these concerns aren’t easy to talk about, but Dr. Hasen understands firsthand, and supports the big step you’ve already made by reaching out for treatment. He values this time as a chance for both patient and doctor to develop a trusting relationship.

Dr. Hasen discusses your different treatment options and makes a recommendation based on your physical characteristics, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals. He leaves the choice to you, being sure to take the time to answer all your questions so that you feel comfortable with your decision. Then, he sets up a detailed treatment plan and schedule.

The Treatment

Dr. Hasen has a team of highly skilled hair graft technicians that have been performing hair restoration procedures in Naples on numerous patients. Hair transplants come in many forms, and some require multiple stages of treatment. Dr. Hasen specializes in NeoGraft® procedures at his Naples center because of their efficiency, effectiveness, and because they leave no visible scars.

If you get a transplant with NeoGraft at our private surgical facility, you do not need to be under general anesthesia, as some past transplant methods required. You get local anesthesia with oral sedation, and your scalp is fully numb for the procedure. You should come to the surgery center in the morning with freshly washed hair and expect to spend the full day.

Essentially, the procedure involves using a small circular punch with suction to remove individual hair follicles, which are then meticulously transplanted into the areas of hair loss that you wish to increase density. You can expect to feel some minor discomfort akin to a sunburn after your procedure, and hairs will begin to grow from transplanted follicles in about 3 months. After 6 months to a year, you’ll see your full results.

The Follow-Up

Dr. Hasen continues to check in with all his hair restoration patients throughout not only their immediate recovery, but also the following months. Some patients decide based on the success of their initial procedures to have further NeoGraft treatments to transplant even more hairs. This can be done within months of the initial surgery or years later if you experience more hair thinning over time.

Another key component of a transplant with Dr. Hasen is complementary therapies. In order to stimulate your newly transplanted hairs to grow, he encourages use of other treatments such as medications, topical products, or low-level light therapy using the LaserCap®.
